The Party’s Over

Party Party

Our lovely niece Olivia celebrated her 7th Birthday yesterday and a superhero party was held. Nonworkers was called upon to design the invitations and lolly bags for the event.

We are especially proud of the lolly bags as it marks the first time we have had a job that required hand screenprinting onto paper. It was a two person job and we had to work quickly as 10 bags needed to be printed and had to be dried quickly after each colour was applied.

Conditions rendered the carousel useless, so we opted for a more authentic hand placed printing method. All design elements were positioned by eye, the screen held down by one person while another wielded the squeegee. We were very pleased with the result and so was the birthday girl.. We got great feedback from the party attendees, but that may have had more to do with the goodies inside. ;p.

Nonworking wonder Kusiki designed and hand painted the crown and wand for Glinda the Good Witch (pictured above). She glued sparkling sequins onto them to give it that magical effect.

Both crown and wand were made from simple items we already had around the house i.e. paper, glue, paint, sequins. This goes to prove our simple philosophy to try to make things before buying them and to hold onto useful items/materials instead of throwing them out. Not only do you save money but you help reduce waste which helps our environment.
