Reuse your old CDs, don’t chuck em!

A Nonworker’s life is fraught with danger - there is no job security and you must try to lower your standard of living having ditched the life with the guaranteed wage. It’s hard work ironically. So why do it? Because ultimately it’s fun and the freedom is something that just can’t be bought by some corporate salary. It’s also a responsibility you want to take on, because if you can make it work for you, then the world is yours to enjoy.
Learning to live on less money might seem like too much hard work but it’s actually quite fun, especially when you get creative about it. There are so many things that can be re-used or recycled to create totally cool stuff; like CDs/DVDs.
You know how it is, being overrun with discs that have stuffed up during the burning process, being given them and then not needing them once you’ve copied across the info. We hate throwing them out… and we LURVE collage… and hey, cds make great coasters if nothing else.
Now we know that coasters aren’t exactly a necessity of life, but creative coasters do make nice talking points when entertaining, and they are not only cheap(nix), but fun to make and rewarding knowing you have saved yet another cd/dvd from the scrap heap and given it new life. Also makes good use of those pesky gossip mags that you don’t buy ;p.
So here’s how we do it.
- Collect CDs and DVDs that you would otherwise throw out.
- Trace around a disc onto a regular sheet of paper.
- Cut out the circle shape.
- Cut out your images from old magazines and the like.
- Arrange images on your circle until happy, then stick them down.
- Now glue your collage to the printed side of the disc.
- Get some clear contact and cover to keep it waterproof.
- Cut off the excess with scissors until neat as can be.
- Have a drink, put drink on it and enjoy.
